    Cool FREE Star Charts

I have been trying to generate nice star chart sets for viewers, that will be included in a future book or separately as charts. These could include beginner constellation charts, telrad charts, binary charts, M objects, NGC and other DSO charts.

I have been able to set the minimum star magnitude to 6 or 7, but will try higher values. I am working on adding more objects.

Here is an example of constellation Canis Major for printing (PDF is the best version for printing but I have included a lower resolution jpeg version here to view and possibly print) :

Also have been working on planispheres for northern and southern hemisphere viewers, and specific locations.

We may have a lower resolution version that will be able to be shared here in the downloads section and printed as a PDF, some will be included in books, and also have very high resolution version that can be purchased for printing (or even in a chart book) possibly to support the site.

Maybe will allow active posters or donators to have first dibs on the larger resolution charts. These could be posted in the constellations (of the sky object database - SOD will be up again soon) and/or the downloads section soon.

    clear skies!

Fantastic work Gus. I normally use the chart from The Sky ay Night Mag, but it does leave them looking a bit sad! I would be great to have decent charts without turning my magazines to pulp!

ya they look great. If you'd like any design help feel free to send me a message. I'm a graphic designer by day. It would be super cool to design a star chart book.

Nice work! Very readable. A must for old tired eyes. It seems everything but my interest in Astronomy wears out.
