    Rich,

I appreciate the advise, especially about the full-time 4x4. Most days when it's nasty snowy (or going to be) she'll take my Toy. Tundra, which goes near anywhere.

Problem is we often get "Black Ice"...and way up here it is truly the invisible kind...you won't know it's there till your on it, and having a 4x4 in full-time, part-time or as a Consultant won't do ya a bit of good...it's the slipperiest stuff on Earth, and looks just like the rest of the road around it. The County sprays de-icer on most of the main roads, etc. but once you get off the beaten-path your on your own.

Mostly what happens (when the temps are 20º F. or lower) is the moisture from the river settles on the road surface and then freezes. You can't see it, but it's there. Not usually too big an issue if you are:

    1. Going slow enough
    2. Keep that foot OFF the brake pedal
    3. Do not have to turn.

Unfortunately, finding a straight stretch of road and getting it to form there is not all that easy...LOL

My apologies though, as we are waaayy OT here...

    Mike

I can't see it from my backyard. I have to drive about 35 minutes.
The views about 100 miles offshore are the best I've seen it.

I can see the summer Milky Way from my location in a green zone. However I am still waiting to see the winter Milky Way from here. Too many clouds and too much snow in the winter.
