Default Albireo: Double or fake? What say yee?

So what can we say about everyone's favorite double star of Cygnus the swan? Is Albireo truly the magnificent pair we thought it to be, or has it been meticulously fooling us all these years? The final verdict hasn't made its way completely back to the bench, but the evidence from Gaia data is surely stacked up against Albireo.

Well I won't be looking at Albireo any the less. Plus the S&T article comment suggests that WZ Casseiopeiae ought to be an excellent choice as well. The IAU will likely encumber it with nonsense nomenclature as well!

    This is ...interesting...

But, dang it, all I gotta say is, Robert E Lee is not descended from an ape, I don't care what anybody says !

And Albireo was beautiful to me before I knew what "double stars" are supposed to be.

Kidding aside, this is interesting. Thank you for bursting my double...I mean bubble...or is it hubble.

Whatever, I'm going outside to look at Albireo before my wife finds out. I'll be in double trouble. :-)

Intriguing. Speaking of Albireos, I haven't managed to see the Winter Albireo (145 Canis Majoris) this winter.

I haven't seen much of anything this winter! It has either been cloudy or raining or "oh screw it"!
