Default I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested

I posted a couple of times about my observations of 46P/Wirtanen, noting that it seems to appear a few minutes off from where SkySafari (6 pro version on my phone) shows it. I did a quick search for "46P/Wirtanen in SkySafari", and lo and behold, a few results popped up, mostly forum threads from elsewhere, with people noticing the same thing! Nice to know I'm not losing my mind, or at least this instance is not the proof of it. Apparently it happened more in older versions or non-pro versions, so I'm worried that my app may need some updates - although I don't know how I can force it to update that database. Sharing in case others ran into the same issue.
    Cheers

Glad that you could see the comet. Not sure about whether there should be an update.

I was looking for it last night and found that Sky Safari 5 has the correct location while version 6 is off by a few degrees. I just recently upgraded to V6 and hadn't gotten rid of 5 yet

I still cling to SS5 and so far it has been dead on target. I do have SS6 Pro, but we remain on disagreeable terms.

Two nights ago I spent a couple of hours trying to locate 46P and using averted imagination in the bright moonlight I convinced myself (well almost) that I was actually seeing this comet. I too am using SS6 pro on my iPad and kept version 5 on my phone! Well, at least I enjoyed the time using my big binoculars and found that even with the bright sky I was surprised at how much could be seen. As soon as the rain moves out I’m going to give it another try! Thank you so much for clearing this up for me !
