Default Polk County FL, viewing sites

Any ideas of a good safe place for viewing at night in central Florida? Trying to get away of Disney lights
Or any meet up this weekend?

    Thank you all

    Karl

Unfortunetely they are call for rain .we are having an astronomy night at Colt Creek ST. PK. Sat. Presentation starts at 7 pm. Bring your scope in case and after the public event is over, we stay to observe

Thanks for the info, tonight I already started setting up, since I had nowhere to go. Maybe next time would really like to meet, cause I have some questions about cleaning optics, since I bought a SCT and the corrector glass is water stained but I still will use it tonight and be in a magical state watching the heavens

    Hey Kgrau09.
Where in Orlando are you located? Stargazing in central Florida is tough. I live near Seaworld but fortunately, my 10" light bucket does a good job cutting through the LP here.

There is also a Astronomy society in Highlands county where I live and we have better dark skies down here than you do around Orlando and better than most of Polk County too. https://www.facebook.com/groups/4152...?ref=bookmarks we also have a star party this week on Thursday night weather permitting.

This helped, but noticed some of the staining might be on the inside of the corrector plate, it’s a second hand scope don’t know the history but am getting good views thru it right now, hopefully can acquire a newer model next year.
