Question How to find objects in a image ??

    Hello forum!

I hope this is the correct place to ask this question..
This weekend I was testing the magnitude limit with my scope and found (1999 LS26) at about 17th magnitude, but there was also another object in the image moving about the same speed so I was thinking the other object is also in the main asteroid belt.. but how can I find out what it is ?? Is there a website where I can find not just the object that is known but also other objects nearby I don't know ?

Not sure if it will find asteriods but usually Astrometry.net does a good job of identifying objects or star fields.

Some people don't understand why I love astronomy so much! I cannot understand why they don't!

The app Redshift - Astronomy is a really great catalog that includes a large collection of asteroids you can search. I use this app all the time to identify faint DSOs that i've captured in my photos around my targets that weren't identified in my other resources. I currently have the free version of the app and highly recommend it.

    Hope this helps,
    Chris
