    Default Cloudy Skies all night

Well here in Northeast Pennsylvania, it's going to be cloudy all night. I was hoping to get out. However, I found lots of great astronomy programs on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Good way to take advantage of the cloudy skies.

    Yup.

And when you run out of shows, you will set up your scope in the living room and fiddle with it. Then clean all of your eyepieces and binoculars. Poring over atlases and charts, making lists of objects, building spreadsheets, reading astrophysics books, bug the crap out of your spouse, take up bread baking, peruse astro vendor websites (add to cart and remove from cart when she says NO! or "why do you need another one?"), decorate the dog to looking Marvin the Martian's sidekick, curse the clouds and laugh manically at the weatherman.

    Rinse. Repeat.

Been a long long summer so far.

I second that Vince. NEPA isn't exactly known for good weather. Two days of good weather usually makes the news.

Bad weather is an excellent time to update observation notebooks and work on observing lists. Taking the scope out in the living room, checking batteries, cleaning EPs is another way to pass the time. All good for foul weather and another reason to keep the TV off. As it is, I have 22 Astronomical League observing program lists in Astroplanner already. I'm good with lists for a very very long time. Sadly, I have an 11 month backlog of keying field notes in Astroplanner. Heck, that's what winter is for.

You are right, we are going thru a tropical storm tonight when estimated 5 to 6 inches of rain. No complaints, that is minor considering Texas and last year's 19" we got with floods from Matthew.

Pretty bad here too. I've managed only eight sessions this year.
