Default Solar Eclpise - Impact on Solar Power Production

The officials are concerned about the August eclipse impact on the power grid in California. One on-line article I read yesterday contained a bit of alarmism that made me scratch my head - really impacts on the entire electrical grid for ~2 minutes with a 65% - 70% dimming (CA).

This article seems a bit more realistic Energy - San Diego Union Tribune

No further comment on "renewable" (part-time) energy from me.

Yea... see... that's why I don't consider it really viable yet.

Don't want to get too political but..... well a lot of money is wasted.

I would have thought the smog generated along the west coast would be a greater threat to power production than a partial eclipse of the sun
