Yes i got out and did some viewing with the omni
well happy the collimation worked out starts and colours pin sharp.
moon is still washing stuff out and i really do need to start using it more often.
Whilst i waited for jupiter to reappear from behind the house , i figured id try the D5300 on the scope , so pic a star any star , you will do - dammit nothing - durrrrrhhhhhhh focus you fool.
So rough focus and yahhh theres the star in live view LOL, Bahtinov mask on and man the spikes are razor sharp, so i try to take some nice 30 second shots with the motors running away i go, well that sucks the stars aren't round they look out of focus and whats this trails !!!!!!! I'm on an EQ mount with motors ticking as i can hear them and all i can see is trails .

try again nope same again better but same again.

then jupiter appears so camera away and in with the barlow and the EP, now as i never seen the GRS before ever , i figured i might not see much , but I'm pretty sure that by about 23:35 i could see a bulge appearing from the right hand side at the bottom, i could see it better with averted vision and as it was getting bigger i figure i was indeed looking at the GRS
so i set the motors tracking and notice its all jerky and sticky and jumps about , figures i would have issues , guess either the clutches need greasing properly or having the sticky grease removed and the plastic tube between the motor and the clutch needs to be possibly a little better, more tinkering , i do not know how our forefathers of astronomy could ever see anything LOL
but I've seen the GRS so all is good

oh and if anyone finds my camera remote can i have it back please

Good show Hobbit! I enjoy your narrative style. I have yet to try my hand at anythong more than a cellphone snapshot. I have a nikon d90 and I am not really sure if it is an appropriate cam to try it with. Thank you for your post.
