Hey Guys, Sorry I haven't replied until now. Hopefully our icky nighttime weather will have gone away by the time you arrive. It's been miserable during nighttime hours will clouds. The past few days have seen bright, sunny skies, and around 4pm the high clouds come in. That is what I am hoping will end for your visit. If you do come, we have a star party scheduled on the 14th of March at the local observatory, Sky's the Limit, just off Utah Trail, just prior to the Park entrance.

I'm not sure I will be there. Depends on if I am recovered from a medical procedure or two I an undergoing.

Our observatory is a small dome with a C14 SCT inside. We have several smaller scopes that we can set up for use by the public. For those who have their own telescopes, we have a large circular observing pad above the dome that can accommodate about four or so observers, as well as some smaller pads along the sidewalk and a couple of square brick pads. We have restroom facilities.

All we ask is that if you arrive after sundown, that you try to dim your lights before getting into the observing area of the parking lot. We have solar lights to mark the edges of the parking lot, as well as red solar lights marking the edges of the sidewalk area.

I sure hope I will be recovered enough to be there. If not, I hope you enjoy your stay in the park, and if you make the observatory, hope you have a great time, as you will probably be having viewers approach you to look through your scope(s). Caley

Bob, If I am physically able, I will try to be wherever those of you decide to observe at. But I will be at the local star party on that Saturday, if, as I say, I am able to. Caley

I'm down to go as well, Whatever weekend you guys decide to go I'm in. The 20th through 22nd sounds like a great time to go, especially given the new moon on the 20th and it being the Equinox. (woot woot 12 hours of viewing ). OCA has their monthly Star Party at their Anza site that weekend... however I'll have gone two months in a row at that point, so I can cheat on them for a weekend

I'm a tent guy... so I'll probably be either bringing a small generator to recharge batteries or just bring a bunch of them lol. Hopefully this is not objectionable to any of you

Excited to meet you guys, and only slightly less excited to meet your equipment .

I hadn't even made the connection regarding the Equinox! With all the rock formations it could be like "Stonehenge" west. A feast may be in order? Brings out my inner Druid roots.

Okay people, I'm all booked! Got my vacation request to the boss and the trailer reserved. I have also put this out to some of my other Facebook friends as well. Cottonwood campground is a very dark sky campsite. We may even get a little interaction from the Park Staff as well. It could be really fun. If anybody is considering going and are considering renting a travel trailer, send me a PM and I'll hook you up with the company I'm using...and they can deliver an RV for you.
