I don't know if #1 counts but I'll put it in anyway since it's the most recent

    1. Breathing a huuuge sigh of relief when looking through my new ES 6.7mm 82° EP on my XLT 120 after having accidently dropped it on a concrete ground when my wife inadvertently startled me - and this happened last night!!! Not a mark on it although I was quite frazzled!
    2. Seeing the Pleiades for the 1st time though both a scope & binos
    3. I suppose seeing Saturn and Jupiter for the 1st time were both extremely impressive

    ....and the list goes on.....

These were easier to come up with than I first thought.
    1. The very first time I saw Saturn through my Jason 60mm refractor when I was 12 years old. I still remember it as if it were yesterday.
    2. Turning off all my cockpit lights in my fighter aircraft at 50,000' and marveling at the Milky Way and feeling like I could actually touch it.
    3. Coming back to astronomy, after a several year hiatus, with my newly acquired CPC 1100, and seeing Orion in what, to my eye, appeared to be a 3-D image. I was gobsmacked!

Thanks for generating the trip down memory lane.

Where did you watch this eclipse from? If you had to project the image, it likely was a partial. There were partial eclipses of the sun visible in the U.S. in March 1989 and July 1991. If you thought a partial eclipse was good, then a total will blow your mind.....

My all time top three as a child:

    1) Watching Sputnik fly over
    2) Watching the first Apollo Lunar landing on TV
    3) Either my first total lunar eclipse or my first total solar eclipse? (both were about equal)

The most amazing ones that I've never outgrown as an adult

    1) A good old fashioned meteor shower.
    2) Shooting nightscapes.
    3) Speaking about the stars at seminars with the next generation of skygazers.
