Default What does the better half say to your hobby?

    Hi all,
How many times have you heard the better half say
" You,re not staying out too late tonight! Are you?"
They not realising that the time flies when we out there!
Or, " Have you seen everything at this stage?"
They not realising that certain things out there change in time!

    Any more quotes?

    Steve,..

My wife enjoys the occasional peek through the eyepiece but will not spend too long out there in the cold or with the skeeters. I did have to train her not to use the super bright giant emergency flashlight to light her way when she does come out to have a peek.

My wife isn't into the hobby so to speak, but she is very cool with me being in it. She will have an occasional look through the eyepiece and she really likes the astrophotos. It would be awesome if she was into it, but I'm pretty lucky overall.

My wife is pretty good about it. She knew I was interested in astronomy and bought a telescope as a surprise Christmas present which really got me into it more than I ever was. She usually doesn't care about me being out late viewing. I've shown her Saturn and Venus in the scope as well as the Moon. She's seen solar flares on a Coronado scope and sunspots on the sun from an 8SE with a Baader film at a display put on by the local astronomy club. She is interested in seeing some of the things up there but isn't overly interested in the hobby per-se. She sets our budget though so she will tell me when I can replace my current scope. I am saving up for it separately though and that's part of the budget so soon enough hopefully :-) Overall, I'm lucky to have someone who is understanding about my interests.

It was my wife who encouraged me to get back into astronomy. She said, "You should buy yourself a really good telescope." She turns out most of the house lights when I am out so as not to ruin my night vision.

She has no interest in looking through the eyepiece. Actually, I don't look through it much myself; I prefer AP. But she does like to look at the pictures the next morning.

I live alone, so, luckily I don't have to worry about my "other half". My girlfriend could care less about Astronomy anyway.... Her thoughts on astronomy are "yeah, that's nice....gonna go watch TV now"

My better half got me into the hobby with my first telescope, she convinced me to buy more than just the tripod and mount when my last mount broke... on clear nights when I haven't started gathering my gear she asks if I'm alright. So basically she loves that I love the hobby, and she also enjoys the occasional peek through the scope. She's a photographer so she likes to piggy back her camera, or sometimes prime focus and see what she can come up with.
If we could afford it and had a place to build it we'd have an observatory with the largest possible scope we could get.
