    Default icosahedra

Alas, I have an old Macintosh and have not memory for the latest system,
required to run GIMP, which is necessary to make icosahedra out of planetary
maps. Calvin J. Hamilton makes some, but he hasn't made any new ones in years.
Does anyone else out there do that?

I would think any general-purpose 3-D modelling application capable
of mapping a 2-D image onto a wireframe icosahedron; it would likely
take some work to set it up, but you'd only have to do it once.
Something like Ray-Dream Designer, which IIRC came with Corel
Graphics Suite 6 for Mac, or even a 'higher-end' program, can
probably be found pretty cheap. Just a suggestion ...

There's a program called GIMP that makes gores from a photomosaic, and
presumably could also make icosahedra, but my Macintosh is too old so support
    sytem X and therefore GIMP.
