    I actually took a look at the article, just for laughs. Some of it is true and some of it is rubbish. Most telling is the headline. It is a "National Enquirer" headline, meaning that it has absolutely nothing to do with the text of the article. Nowhere in the article does it say how brown dwarfs "negate" the big bang theory. You don't have to know anything about cosmology to recognize rubbish when you read it.

    This thread touches on a number of subjects that I find distressing, one is that people don't understand the scientific method and that faith makes things true. I teach business at the local community college and in the second lecture of the semester I teach how the scientific method works and how it is used to find truth through empirical means. I usually go off on a soapbox tangent at this point about how and why faith cannot be trusted in the search for truth. I use Galileo and the Catholic Church as my example. After this "rant" I always explain how the scientific method applies to business.
