    Default Stellarium Poll.

I have problems with Stellarium 0.10.6.1. Each time recently I have downloaded this new program the fonts are unreadable. I have gone back to 0.10.4 which at least I can read now.

Would like to know what other members use or if they use some hidden gem that none of us are aware of at the moment...

Thanks for your contributions as it will help me with my recommendations to new members.

I use the 10.4 version. I usually wait a good few months before I ''upgrade'' any software. I got fed up being a beta tester a long time ago. Now I wait till the 'newer' program is debugged, then I look at upgrading.

I usually do the same. Unless there's a compelling reason (change that fixes a bug that affects me, patching a big security hole, adding a feature I requested) I hold off on upgrades until any hickups have been worked out.

There should be a "No Open GL2" icon in the startup folder for Stellarium. If you run the program by clicking this icon the fonts should be OK. You can move the icon from the folder to the Desktop if it works for you.

Yes PeddlePusher had this problem and there is a fix:

I'm using Ver 10.6 with no problems on a Vista 64bit, and a Vista 32 bit laptop. My daughter is running 10.6 on a Macbook with no problems as well. Recently got Stellarium Scope working with it, so it controls the telescope via Ascom /Eqmod. I like Starry Night Pro, it has a Stellarium tyep presentation, but I haven't really got to test it out in the field so to speak.

The problem with Stellarium is most likely open gl. Try to disable open gl and see if that works.

Now where did I put that clear sky button!

They brought out a v 0.10.6.1 to deal with the fonts problem, but I will try and see if it makes a difference.

    WorldWide Telescope

    Microsoft WorldWide Telescope.

Instead of fake little circles, you get the Digital Sky Survey, CHANDRA, SPITZER, USAF, and many other surveys to chose from when looking at images.

Works real well when showing people what a galaxy would look like if you were right next to it, instead of a blue blob.

I also use SkyTools - it isn't free, but it's an excellent bit of kit for session planning and event prediction/simulation.
