    Default Hi from the Poconos!

    Hey y'all,
long time lurker, first time poster! Glad I found this site! We're getting ready to take the plunge and pick up our first scope. We're leaning towards the Orion Astroview 120ST. Anybody have any experience with this one? Thanks in advance! =)

Hi Tim. Another Pennsylvanian. I'm in southern Chester County. Fairly close to the Lancaster area. I have a Sky View Pro 120eq. It's more designed for the moon and planetary views but I've been tracking down some of the brighter DSOs. I'm still a rookie at all of this but I've been pretty pleased with the scope and especially the mount. I'm sure some of the more experienced folks here can give you good info on the ST. The views must be good up there in the hills. Welcome! Len

Howdy neighbor! We have friends down in Lancaster. Our property is mostly wooded but my Dad lives about 10 minutes away with a nice cleared lot and he's deeper into the country so light pollution is better there, will likely be doing a lot of viewing from there LOL

Hi tim . Give the folks at Hands On Optics :: Telescopes, Accessories, CCD and Digital Cameras a call and see what they have to offer . they are a small local family owned shop in MD. and want every customer to be satisfied ... If your leaning towards an refractor , dont put the other manufactures out of the picture . Celestron , meade and stellarvue all make great equipment ... It dosent hurt to check them out befor you buy ...Just a thought ...Personaly , i dont like orion because i had a bad experience with the customer service ... Thats just me though ...
