Default Greetings, Ugly bags of mostly water!!

Hi everyone! I am a long time lurker and finally decided to come out of hiding. I have been using this site to help me decide on my first personal telescope. I have decided on the Celestron Nexstar 6 and it will be here on Friday. Any tips on how to get the most of my first night are appreciated. Here is what I plan on so far...
    1. A properly working scope (that is hopefully in the bag)
    2. Lots of sleep Thursday night
    3. Beer, 6 (1 for every inch of ap)
    4. Cloudless nights (I know about the curse, but I'm hoping)
    5. A Husband that will put the kids to bed then join in the fun
    6. Extra batteries
Let me know how this sounds!!

Hi emily , Welcome aboard the forums . The scope should arrive in one piece or several unbroken pieces that is . Celestron does a real good job packing there goods these days . If it were me , i would not be drinking beer the first night out . I aint trying to tell you what to do but beer affects your vision and you need vision to check out the stars . At least not the first night out . Although if you do get the beer you can drink it the first night because generaly you get clouded out when you get a scope or any kind of accessories ... Hope you have clear skys emily and again , welcome ... Ps... i dont think you will need extra batteries the first night but they are good to have a spare set in the scope case .. A lot of people use the jump boxes to run there scopes ...

    Hi Emily,

    Welcome to Astronomy Forum.
Eliminate the beer and use wall plug electricity if at all possible.

Hello Emily and welcome to AF ... I'm sure you'll enjoy the 6SE, it's a truely fine scope. If you have specific questions, stop in the NexStar forum.

"Ugly bags of mostly water" ... some of us have been called "Ugly bags of gas" ... not naming names, tho ...

    Again, welcome aboard!

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'll update when the scope arrives. Just bought an ac adapter. I figure it is much easier than replacing batteries all the time and cheaper too.
