    Smile Greetings, Earth-bound creatures!

Howdy, y'all. My name is Dave. I am a 42 years of age guy, born and raised in Ohio, now retired, living in Southeast Asia and scuba diving and hiking for winters, back home to help care for the parents in the warm, summer months.

I am a star-gazing buff, i worked at my high school planetarium, then got a job at the one at Oglebay park in wheeling, WV. i delivered star shows to thousands of students, adult groups, the general public, etc...

when on my winter holidays, i am always looking up at the sky from whatever island i am on, spotting orion, cepheus, the dippers, draco, leo, etc... my favorite constellatilon is pegasus. and andromeda. and orion, and taurus. ok, my fave 4...

i am finally in the market to buy a telescope as we (my parents and i) are completed building our new house even further away from the small town of st. clairsville where we were living. we are now so far removed from neighbors (nearest ones are about 300 meters away) and light source (kms away from us) that i am now going to buy a 10"dob, and hope it will arrive at my home before i arrive there on 19 may!

so, i will be posting many annoying "oh, god, how many times will we answer THAT stupid query?!" over these next couple of weeks, then let you know which scope i buy, which eyepieces, then report on the success of our skywatching!

oh, i forgot to tell you many years ago my parents also caught the bug. they look for the quads, the virginids and orionids when i am away, and we all gather on the rear deck in summer to see the perseids. they can spot the summer triangle as well as most of the major constellations. so they will use whatever i buy when i am not home. i will be jealous of hearing stories of their sights during the long, dark nights of winter.

thanks for any assistance you may provice to my endeavor. it is greatly appreciated!

    dave
