    Default Hi, from Texas,USA!

    Greetings!,

Ive been a astro-nut since I was 14,[1972], my parents got me a
60mm-refractor for christmas, and I was hooked!,,spent alot of cold-nights on
the roof of the house looking at the stars,[after that, dad thaught I was dropped as a baby,,he,he,,]. I couldnt afford a real-scope till I was
    17, and after I started working, I found a Criterion RV-6 for 100-bucks.
I used that wonderful scope for years, and Learned alot! after reading a small-book I got from the school Library about the life of Clyde Tombaugh,
I felt we had alot in common, because our cituations were the same, starting-out.
soo,,here Iam, several-years, and scopes later, still in awe! of the splendor
    of gods creation!
    hope that wasnt too-long-winded!

    clear-skies to you all!!

    John.[zargon50]

Welcome aboard, John. I still have my RV6 from 1963, restored it in 1987, but needs it again. What a great old scope. I painted the tube 1978 Lincoln medium beryl, kinda like an Orion StarBlast, lol. Think I'll go back to white this time.

Good to have you on the forum. Enjoy.

BTW, Zarg, do you recall the smell inside the tube of the RV6? It was made of Bakelite and had a distinct odor that many owners have commented on. Smelled like astronomy to me. To this day it gives me that feeling.
