    Welcome to the Astronomy Forum.

Unfortunately because of your location your are going to have difficulty seeing any deep space objects other than bright ones.

Here is a link to info on Hong Kong's light pollution.

Dark Skies Awareness: Light Pollution in Hong Kong

Unfortunately I also have the same problem because I am within Boston USA's light envelope. Fortunately for me I can go a couple of hundred miles and get to dark skies. I think that may be more difficult for you to do.

You can download a free planetarium program known as Stellarium here:

    Stellarium

In this program you can see the level of light pollution to get an idea of what you can (or cannot see) at different levels of light pollution.

    Hello. TambourineMan

I am great to meet you.

I join the Internation Year of astronomy 2009 with my wife in Hong Kong (Tuen Mun) on 04-04-2009, 8:00pm Hong Kong Time . In addition, we are to observe saturn and moon clearly. After, we can't see any deepsky as light pollution and cloudy (Like a very big light envelope!!!). We use the 8.5" refractor (By Hong Kong Astronomical Society) to observe the saturn and moon.

I would like going to the island to observe the deepsky as the light pollution is bit small than the city.

I can go a couple of hundred miles and get to dark skies. I think that may be more difficult for you to do.

Yes, I agree. It is because I am so happy to observe the deepsky so much. Therefore, I would like moving the telescope to the island and to observe. M45, M42, M31, M4, I would like to observe these deepsky.

Thanks for your helping. I have observed M42 by Meade 8" F/4. In Hong Kong, the M42 isn't bright.

    Hello. Roverich and star drop

In Hong Kong, the weather is cloudy. Therefore, I can't observe the deepsky.
