Welcome to the forum, Allah. Being from the United States, I was not familiar with the Australian spelling of such words as "that's"--"datz"--and "goodnight"--"gnyt." It's a fascinating orthography, and I shall study it in depth the first chance I get.
Vinnie, get on board with this, will you?

    ROTFLMAO

Mike you old fart..... The guys name is Raafi!

He is a student at Canterbury Boys High School, probably a Bulldogs supporter, and most definitely uses a mobile (cell) phone a lot.

The language is the current generation's SMS shorthand, and Allah Hafez is a Bangladeshi salutation meaning "May God watch over you"

Recently Ted addressed a new member as Lata, when that was in fact the same language for "See you later"

Meanwhile welcome to the forum Raafi!

An educated guess from the Allah Hafez, Hafez spelled with an "e" and used at the end of a statement is a common Bangladeshi usage, more so than from Muslims from other nations and also everyone from the Canterbury/Bankstown district is a Bulldogs fan

(For the benefit of the non Aussies the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are a Rugby League team/club)

    Actually Raafi,

I am by your standards older than it would be conceivable for a person to live. LOLOLOL

At the University where I work we have many students and staff from the sub continent, including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal, and I listen a lot, as in pay attention to what people tell me, that's how we all learn.

Years ago, maybe 40 odd, I worked for a bit around the CB district of Sydney....

And to cap it all I actually live next door to a Mosque. Now I ain't a Muslim, nor a Christian, nor anything really, but the guys next door and I get on real fine, and we often talk about a lot of things.

(incidentally, religious discussion is banned from this forum from anyone, I just made a statement that is not to be pursued, in the same way as you made a statement of your faith, mutual respect is fine, debate is not)

So it all comes back to a lot of years and a lot of time paying attention to life around me.

Raafi, you enjoy the forum, mate, and I hope that we get you hooked on Astronomy!

And I for one look forward to seeing posts from you!
