Cool Basic Newb, ISO tips on astrophotography with my Nexstar 4se

Hi everyone first time on a forum so forgive me if I'm posting this wrong lol. Just recently I decided to purchase the Nexstar 4se from Celestron. Only had for less than a month and wasn't sure what to expect being this is my first telescope I've ever own or peered through. I also have decided to add to my hobby collection a Neximage Burst Color again I am not sure what to expect out of this product and my telescope, am really enjoying viewing Saturn and Jupiter with my basic 25mm and my recently purchased 6mm eye pieces, but would like to get a feel for what to expect out of the Neximage along with my scopes capabilities. My Neximage is coming in today any tips on astrophotography with this item? Also will I be able to photograph nebulae with my 4se? Thanks for the help, JP

The Neximage Burst Color is designed for Solar System imaging. It takes video of bright objects like the Moon, planets, comets and the Sun (with a filter).
You might be able to get some images of a few of the brighter Messier objects like M45, M42 and M31. But you will struggle to image most nebula, as this camera was not designed for it. For DSO AP, you want a camera that can take long exposure images.
Mounts: EQ1, LXD55, Atlas EQ-G (one with Rowan belt mod, EQ6-Rail and one without)

Welcome JP. It seems like you are already getting good advice. You can certainly get fastastic images with the 4SE, but you need exposures of 20sec and more. Also a camera with a relatively large sensor, otherwise you will only get part of the object. Another useful accessory is a 'focal reducer' which will widen the field. Something like a 0.6x is useful.

Hi JP. Your camera is like my Orion SolarSystem IV and ZWO AS120, as they are for lunar/plnateary photography. There is one alternative for DSO work that many use on here with great success, and without "breaking the bank", at:

Welcome to the forum JP, and I hope this helps.

as other had have pointed out ,the burst colour is a capable planetary imaging camera but not so good at dso, it's max exposure time is 1 second , you will need much more range then that (30 s to 30 mins). i can say that some of the zwo asi range are pretty flexible and can cover a range of targets with high frame rates and sensitive enough with longer exposure control
