    Hi Flaneurstellaire.

    Welcome to AF

I have not seen a lot of discussion about night vision, if that's what you mean by NV? The video astronomy group is your best bet for such discussions.

I look forward to reading your posts.

    Hello!

Again thank you for your welcome!

Hi Joe, yes, exactely.... it is a manner for observing very interesting and promising, especially in light polluted environment!

On the famous forum "Cloudynights", there is a "EAA" sub-forum (Electronic Assisted Astronomy) dealing with this kind of tech , with amazing results.

Generally speaking, enhancing our natural vision (on sensitivity or generally speaking S/N point of view, or on a spectral point of view... ideally on both of them) in low light/extremely low light environment is a captivating field... especially in real time...

The history of the development of this kind of tech, the fact that with some curiosity, tricks, and childish/"out of the box" way of thinking, great things can be done with old, but remarkable in term of design and engeneering, pieces of tech... it is really intellectually motivating...

And if there is access to a more modern system.... Bingo! but as a simple European hobbyist, it is tricky, I have to admit....That a part of the challenge, by the way...

Therefore, combining second hand intensifiers (whole "generations" without distinction), masterizing their capabilities by studying carefully their features, and mixing it with more accessible and conventional imager devices (CCD/CMOS cams/DSLR...) for extracting the best of that, or at least the less worst, is really my pleasure...

With what we have access nowday, as simple hobbyists, in astronomy field (for instance), it would have made happy a top rank scientific team working in a Lab (university, national research center) 30/40/50 years ago....

Just some words, a bit on a philosophical slope, I admit...

    Cheers and clear skies.
