Default New member from southern California

Hello all. I'm new to the forum and thought I should introduce myself. I just bought my first telescope, the Orion Skyquest XT6 6" Dobsonian. The skies aren't the darkest here in San Diego but fortunately I've got the dark desert a short drive to the east. I know enough to know I don't really know anything, only what I've taught myself over the last month while convincing my wife the scope was a reasonable expense . I've always been interested by the stars and the history of manned spaceflight. I've been lurking around the forum the last few weeks and figured it was time to take the plunge! Thanks already for the good tips and advice I've seen so far.
