I would suggest you read through at least the first page of this discussion.

The Road to your first telescope
    http://www.astronomyforum.net/astron...rspective.html

My suggestion will be for the Orion XT8i Intelliscope, I have one of these:
Orion SkyQuest XT8i IntelliScope Dobsonian Telescope | Orion Telescopes

    or the Celestron Nexstar 8SE
Celestron NexStar 8SE Telescope with StarSense AutoAlign - Telescopes at Telescopes

My reasons are discussed in the road to your first telescope.

    Default Re: Hello

Thank you very much, I read your post and liked it, but we have some differences. Were I live there are no astronomy clubs where I can go and see scopes and talk to their owners. I live away from the city and light pollution is not a problem. I have a large field I can go out in to do my viewing. I actually have had other scopes and still have some. but I have a hard time learning how to set them up. Manuals are not that good to me I learn much better from someone explaining it to me. That is why I sought out this forum. I need to talk with people to learn. I do not plan on carting my scope any where but out in my field. That is why I am leaning to a big scope, I really like what I know about the Celestron 11" goto scope. I do have a Meade Telestart ds-114 but have had a hard time getting it aligned so I can use it. I have a great spotting scope that I would consider my grab and go if I ever decide to do that. Your information is very helpful it made me look at what I want and why. I am a little fearful of spending a bit of money on a good scope if I won't be able to figure it out enough to enjoy it. being out from the cities were I can look at the sky with my naked eyes and see so much, I just want more, I want to see what is out there. I remember my first scope was a 70mm Meade refractor. It was with that scope that I was able to see Saturn and its rings for the first time. That is it, I just want to look at the sky. Thanks again so much for your posts.
