Hi! Welcome to the forum! Which OTA did you get the standard 200P or PDS?

One word of advice: Just concentrate on the visual side of astronomy first -That 200p reflector will be a great instrument for that but will be way to cumbersome and heavy on the EQ5 (did you get this with the Syncscan?) mount to handle for astro-photography.

Good luck and hope we get some dark clear skies soon! The next couple of days are looking promising....

No Synscan unfortunately, but once I get a motor drive and the camera equipment, I'll see what I can do mate.

Yeah, no harm in trying. I'm sure it'll be fine for planetary / luna photography though.

BTW, if you're after a motor and just tracking only (RA) rather than RA + Dec, FLO are selling a discounted motor at the moment for the EQ5 - Probably likely to come down in price a bit more before it's sold though.. Single-Axis D.C. Motor Drive for EQ-5 - First Light Optics
