Hi Jon and Welcome to the Forum. Enjoy the 8" Dob. Used to have one that I made but recently upgraded to a 10" Dob after a hiatus from Astronomy. Lots of helpful people here...

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to getting back into the night sky. I think the 8" dob is my best bet. From what i have seen so farI am leaning towards the zhumell 8" dob. The 2 spd focuser and the heavier duty build look to be very impressive. Not to mention for the extra $50 bucks vs a XT8 you get the 2" 30mm eyepiece. I will definatly be adding a telrad as star hopping would be easier. But for now as I am saving I still have a bit of time before I make a final decision. Again anyone who has owned either or even better both I would love to hear your opinions.

    Thanks Jon
