Hi everyone,
My name is Mark Striebeck - new to this group and new to astrophotography.
I recently bought a 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain because my kids got interested in astronomy. Well, that was one reason, the other was that 30 years ago, I wanted such a telescope but couldn't afford it :-) I was really interested in astronomy as a teenager - I even wanted to study it. But I ended up studying mathematics and then started my career as a software engineers. Which finally brought me to my current job: working on Gmail in sunny California.
When I started to read about astrophotography with DSLR cameras, I realized that it combines all the things that I love: astronomy, mathematics and computers ... and buying gadgets :-)
I will have lots of rookie questions, feel free to answer them with a link to an answer that was given previously.
MarkS
P.S: No photos yet - as in: my photos are still way to crappy to share :-(

Everyone who does AP starts somewhere and we have all been there, any and all images are useful tools to progress, share, and learn.
The Forum offers a monthly processing challenge contest where you can process data from other users, this is very beneficial learning tool for all levels, I highly recommend. Astrophotography Image Processing Forum Read the sticky notes at top of this section, you can even go back and work some of the older challenges. You will also find some great tutorials in the same section.
