    Default Amateur in Japan

    Dear Astronomy Forum Members,

Hello all! I found this forum when reading reviews about the Celestron 15x70 Sky Master binoculars and I am now happy to be a member. I am a 31 year old from Buffalo, New York now living in Tokyo, Japan. As you can imagine, the LP here is a big issue when observing so I am very limited to what I can see (or so I thought). Back home I have a Meade ETX-90 but since I travel a lot for work I am now limited to my binoculars; I of course use my telescope when I am at home. I have a pair of Pentax PCF WP II 10x50 binoculars which I have enjoyed very much. I was actually out last night using the 10x50's and was able to see M12; even from the LP skies of Tokyo! I am curious to hear from anyone else who lives under heavy LP skies as to what they can see with their equipment. I am now looking forward to getting my Celestron 15x70's in a few weeks and can't wait to test them out. Look forward to "meeting" everyone here!

    Sincerely,

    Jeff

Welcome to the forum Jeff. I can't be much help to ya for light polluted skies. We have some LP here, but it's nothing like you have. I live in a yellow/blue zone. I know a lot of our members do live in white and red zones and can give you some advice. Maybe someone will chime in shortly. Just wanted to welcome you and say thanks for joining us here at AF.

Welcome to the forum. I just moved from a white zone and with my 70mm and 80mm scopes I could see most thinges brighter than mag 9 except galaxies. On M1 was visible. Haven't tried Binos but plan to get some 10x80 next month
