Default Greetings from the Red Island of Potatoes

I'm actually from New Brunswick, Canada, but living on Prince Edward Island currently. It is a little sandbar in the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the East Coast of Canada, often left off printed maps. And no, not Sable Island. That really IS a sandbar, and oddly enough is often labelled on more printed maps than PEI.

My interests tend to lay more in the down to earth technical issues than what is actually up there. I really don't care what I get to see out there, I just want to enjoy building the equipment to see it better.

I will most likely combine my hobbies here with photography, and possibly look into playing around with software. Finishing up my BSc with a major in Comp.Sci. so I figure getting drawn into some programming related project or another will happen eventually.

I try to be fairly active with the local sidewalk astronomy group that was started up a few months ago. I've been surprised at just how nice of views we can get from basically down town Charlottetown. I'm currently without gear of my own, so it is relying on my own eyeballs and glasses, or tag along to share friend's gear.

    Hi from Central Massachusetts!

My wife and I have been vacationing on PEI for the past 10 or so years, and love it. We plan to retire to the island in about 10 years from now.

Something to be said for the simplicity of life very commonly found on PEI. "Pastoral", as one could say.

If Charlottetown is too light polluted (but drive 10 minutes out and I'd think you're good to go), you shouldn't have to go far to get away from the bulk of it, by traveling down to the central portion of the island. Any common areas between Cape Traverse and your side should be fantastic.

Good luck in school (UPEI, I would think)

    Welcome to the forum!

Spent some of my time while growing up cruising and partaking on thousands of adventures above and below the water on the St. Lawrence River between Sackets Harbor and Alexandria Bay areas, not quite the Gulf but had great fun and island hopped many of islands.
