I use the C8 more but that's more due to the goto functionality than the "view". They both have 8" mirrors but the orion is a 1200mm f/5.9 and the C8 is a 2032mm F/10 so it's tough to do a direct comparison. Both Scopes have sharp views but the view is different for a given eyepiece
I personaly think the C8 is a better scope but.. at 5-6 times the cost of the XT8 it better be. I grabbed the XT8 last night had it loaded in the car in 30 seconds, went up to Bragdon Hill had the scope set up in 45 seconds and was looking for M51 before I would of had the tripod set up for the C8.
So in the Bang for the buck catagorie-- Orion hands down
Goto and tracking- C8
focuser- C8 (I added a GSO 2" dual speed crayford style) to the C8 and I like it. The focuser on the XT8 is kinda crappy but functional.
