    Hi
I'm very much a beginner, and have just acquired a Meade ETX125. I live on the Isle of Man - very little light pollution - and have just returned from a trip to Northern Norway where we had our first view of the amazing Northern Lights. I'm still trying to get the hang of automatic alignment with the Meade GoTo, but no doubt I'll crack it.

Welcome to the forum Mike. I sure wish I could see those Northern Lights at some point. Sounds like you have an awesome observation site. Those ETX telescopes have a short learning curve, but once you understand how it works, you will be set up and viewing in less than 5 mins. Thanks for joining us here at AF and clear skies to you.

My 1st scope was an ETX-70... wonderful scope. My only regret was not going with a bigger scope but my budget was pretty much nonexistent at that time. A friend of mine has it now so I get "visitation rights" every now and then

There are loads of ETX sites on the web that I found to be quite useful when I had mine. I tried to post a link but apparently I can't do that yet

Anyway, I think that you will really enjoy that ETX once you get used to it. I know I did...

    Welcome to the forum Mike!

I've gotten years of enjoyment from my ETX70at. Takes a bit to get the hang of it but they do work quite well.
