    Default Newbie from France

Hi everyone... I'm an ageing newbie living in central France, with a SkyWatcher EXPLORER-150P (EQ3-2). I've also bought the R.A and DEC motor kit, as I fancy a stab at astrophotography (although maybe this is trying to run before I can walk...).

Anyway, I'm glad to be part of this community, and I'll try not to make a nuisance of myself by asking too may dumb questions!

It's been overcast 4 nights out of 5 recently, but when the weather cooperates, it's normally pretty stunning.

Sadly though, not from my garden... Horizons are mostly obscured by hedges and buildings; and our village has just invested in high-pressure sodium lighting.

I'm resigned to driving a few miles for the serious viewing.

Hi, Astronautilus. Your name is fun to say, lol. Have you thought about rooftop viewing? My roof has a large flat section that I can use to get a more complete view of the sky, still can't see to the horizon, but it's better than my backyard. Welcome to the forum, and the people here love to help newbies with questions so don't be shy about asking them!
