Not sure where to ask this, but when I upload my profile and avatar photos, I don't get any error messages, but I also don't see the photos when I go to my profile or posts. I've cropped and resized the photo, saved it as a jpg and png. It's 139x130, 40.9 KB for the png file and 21.7 KB for the jpg file.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Ksman. There has been a problem with uploading new astrophotos (in fact all new images), including avatars since late November, 2018, due to a software upgrade and a host server migration. Hopefully this will be eventually fixed, and it involves nothing that you are doing wrong. I hope this helps Ksman, and the best of regards.

Ive been trying to look at pictures in the "Astronomy Photo" Section but none of those seem to load.

    Ive tried Chrome & Firefox.

    Is this the same issue?

I'm not sure which pictures you are referring to. Older posts made before the imaging issue arose may include photos that are still visible. For example, my avatar (and others) should show in your browser, since I uploaded it before the crash.

Newer posts made after image uploading became dysfunctional may include links to an external image hosting site.

If you cannot see my avatar, can't see photos in old posts, or can't see a photo when you click on a link, the problem is likely on your end of things.

The problem here with images on the forum has nothing to do with whether or not you are seeing images hosted at other sites.

Hello buddsy. I see your avatar fine, because you joined and put it up before the current forum problems. New members since this time have no avatar. Even some older members have lost their avatar when changing. However, they have the option to find their old avatar and re-upload it, if it is still on the old server files.
As to the astrophotos, our great imagers are having to use a third party to host for their captures. They will include the url links at the bottom of their text and you have to click on these to see the photos. A few are using a more sophisticated and clever method of embedding the url into their post, which makes a call to the offsite link, and the picture comes right up without having to click on anything. An example is here:
    M31
If you can see Bryan's M31 image, and also Mary's and my avatars, your computer and browser are fine. As to browsers, I prefer Firefox. I hope this helps buddsy, and the best of regards.

    Right got you...I think!

I can see your avatars. I mainly just posted in this thread as I didnt want to start a new one.

I see in the "Astronomy Photo" section there are no photos from 2019. I just went there to try to find some images taken using the ZWO 120mc-s camera.

A lot of forums I visit seem to have problems with 3rd party hosting sites now not wanting images posted direct into forums.

I had many car pictures on photobucket (which was full of dodgy pop ups anyway) which I had to delete.
