    Default Where are "the rules"?

After another necro-posting warning at Diy 12" sct I tried again to find "the rules" with no success - again, I have tried this more than once. Clicking on the FAQ (Astronomy Forums | Telescope Forums & Reviews | Astronomy Community FAQ) I find 11 links, this one seems most promising: http://www.astronomyforum.net/faq.ph...b3_board_usage . It rewards me with 40 links of which it is not clear if it is about how to use or what not to do. Continuing to the most promising link General Forum Usage I find a lot of advice about how to use the features. One advice is about the "what's going on" box at the home page. This does not ring a bell so I click on the AF and indeed find no "what's going on" box. Are these pages perhaps outdated? It sure does not lend much credibility to the pages and pages that we have to dig through. I have only been on the forum for 4 or 5 years or so, perhaps finding "the rules" is an advanced feature that will take me many more years to learn. Someone may tell me oh just click here then there and maybe I am blind sighted but to me it is completely obscure. I know there is a sticky about necro posting but is that a rule or just some moderator's personal opinion? Necro-posting is bad but being blasted by "Happy Birthday" threads is good? Beats me. Warning someone to follow the rules is not appropriate if they are hidden 3 miles deep. It would be great if this could be cleaned up.

They are in the "Announcements" forum. Or here: Astronomy Forum Rules and Terms of Service - Part One, The Legal Stuff. Or there are links in the signature lines of several moderators.

Thanks for the links Keith. Did I miss it in the FAQ, or in one of the direct menus? If this link is missing could you please add it somewhere in a prominent place? The point of my question is not where the link is or what the rules are but how people can find them easily. To be clear, the "Announcements" forum is a place where almost nobody would look - the FAQ, or some directly visible link, would be. And they are missing unless I was blind (it happens). I have to say, "Happy birthday" threads are allowed so I guess it's OK though it is more spam than I like. Oh well.

In addition to being placed in the signature line of many of the moderators, and the 'Announcements' area, they are posted as 'stickies' in the "Introduction" forum, "Beginners" forum and many of the popular forums for new members.

When someone violates one of the forums 'rules' they are reminded by one of the moderator team who typically has a copy placed in their signature line. Also in most cases a link to the 'TOS' will be provided.

The moderator team does the best we can to inform members of these rules. If someone has a particular question about them it's best to PM one of the team so we can address it.
