Default What's the deal with the **********?

In several posts I see that brand names have been replaced by asterisks, which makes the posts less informative - having to guess which brand someone's talking about doesn't help

Ah... Sad to see the extremes some people will resort to to sell stuff especially when there are lots of decent folk around to spot any misinformation

i dont agree with banning use of the scopes brand, its one thing to punish a username....but the entire line of scopes...thats only available from his store.
that permits me from having too many conversations about my scope.
i only bought it because of the reviews i read here on other ******** scopes.
im affraid im in a somewhat violation of rule number 6.
i am new, recieved my scope, collimated within 2 mins of trying, when the clouds cleared i had (at that time)the most amazing views of many things ive ever had.
im not kicking off some bull, just stating my honest opinion.
again i have a scope that i cant discuss, when i discuss my aperature ad12....theres always gonna be someone asking the same question that started this thread.
    i too asked,my thread was deleated,then i pmed admin,gus explained through a few pm's.
we all come here to share, learn, teach.
how are we gonna learn about ********'s line of scopes.
its because of scopes that were able to be here at this forum in the first place.
im happy with my high quality ad12,my brother owns a nice lx200 classic 10....hes absolutly amazed and impressed with my ad12.
my ad12 is the pride of my fleet!
good values shouldnt be hidden inorder to punish 1 person.
your punishing thousands of potiential new scope buyers.
i hear lots of complaints about zhumells very poor customer service, and many here praise there zhumell products.
has anyone here recieved a bad ******** scope, has anyone recieved poor customer service from **********?
    please speakup
    again...my honest opinion.
like or hate it...ive said it.

Unlike most other astronomy forums we do not have a store, nor our own brand-name products (unlike other forums), and do not have bias to any particular brand, nor any store nor any product in any world-wide location - this is the only major astro-community on the internet you can get unbiased reviews, discussions on stores, and products.

We want to keep it that way, and clearly we do not want to have stores manipulating the community here. A store clearly has no reason to promote Meade for example as it can be purchased anywhere, however X product available only at Y store can clearly be promoted for monetary reasons, and we have one software company that may soon be in violation of the rules posted above for this very reason.

On the other hand, we allow any website, store or vendor to sign up for a nominal fee (which amount is also donated by many users monthly so is clearly not an obstacle for any size store or website) and post sales and product information in designated areas of the site to differentiate this information from user information eg sale at X store. These are vendors who have signed up to support the community and post under their own username not a fake one, nor a duplicate account. They are allowed to post any information and links to their store. During registration we ask users to pick either Vendor Or Registered user to make the distinction what purpose they have on the community.

Vendors or stores registering as a vendor at signup, becoming a supporter vendor, and clearly not violating the rules as per team decision will be welcome on the community for as long as our community/the internet exists.

However, a new user with 10 posts is not allowed to post links to a store, and highly praise a store-specific brand when clearly they are promoting it and the team confirms this. We do not allow this behavior here.

I've mentioned the reason I dislike a store, however we have not decided to ban that brand or store name here despite many bad reviews as mentioned above as we do not have conclusive proof they have broken the rules. (I wish we did but we don't.)

On the other hand due to several reasons we cannot mention here we have censored one store - but I can mention one reason: multiple accounts which is against the TOS/Rules.

So several duplicate account users (5+) from one store (which were not registered as vendors), and the brand/store name have been banned for several reasons including multiple accounts. I had mentioned this brand/store myself previously as an alternative for GSO telescopes, however cannot recommend it anymore either due to their recent actions.

We have not banned GSO made telescopes, so you can clearly mention you have a 10" GSO. A sticker "or brand" really doesn't change your telescope - most people will understand you have a GSO telescope they are all basically identical either white or black, so I don't see why you have an issue with a store branded product breaking the rules on many occasions. If we decide to remove the stars we will do so at a later time.

We do not allow multiple/duplicate accounts by anyone, especially not 5+ unless they have registered as a sponsored vendor for the user accounts and we can confirm these are in fact different people - most duplicate accounts we get are spammers and this does not speak highly for these type of people.

Furthermore, as mentioned we do NOT allow people to post fake reviews nor manipulate the community in any way as we take truth very seriously here.
