I'm just picking up star-gazing (won't say astronomy just yet) and can't seem to find a proper review on the Meade ETX-80 Autostar.

Focal point of 5.0 and aperture of 5.1inches. Good enough for a beginner? I've got nebulas, basic planets and neighbouring stars in mind.
Let me know please!

Hello Mik,
yeah its a good scope however for deep sky a dob is the best. There is no goto on a dob, but they can sure pick up more nebulas and stars. If you can get a decent dob/reflector of large aperature and a goto, then you have the best of both worlds.
