    Default ETX-90 in bad shape

    I'm a dummy.
i bought it on ebay for $41 and I don't think there's enough good parts on it for me to break even.
It took me an hour to get the cross threaded cover off. That's when I saw that the optics were almost opaque with fungus.
I stripped and cleaned it (forget about the base...the batteries leaked all over everything) but the fungus etched right through the mirrors and fogged the corrector coating.
Is there any way I can source a decent set of glass for my new telescope?
The flip mirror is decent, I guess

    I'm gonna try it out.
I'll be comparing it to a spotless ETX-80 though!

    I tore down the base.
My telescope was definitely under water.
Wondering now if there are replacement PCBs available

The power board is badly corroded and probably shot.
I was able to strip the base down to parade rest without braking anything.
It's in baggies and a cardboard box now.
My telescope is mounted to an antique movie camera tripod now!

Also, I'll post pics if anyone is interested.
I should have documented the condition of the optics once I was finally able to remove the lens cover (with a HAMMER!!) but I was in shock.

I was able to tear it down completely without ripping any wires off or breaking any screw holes.
I had the OTA out yesterday on the hood of my pickup truck and could see right through the window at the top of the spike on High Point.
    That's 12 miles.
Last night I "star tested" it on a high pressure mercury light on the other side of the valley. I could see the diffuser pattern of the 8' rectangular glass. Could probably tell you where he bought it.
    That's 1.5km
Just goes to show you how much damage you can "see past"!
