Default running into the stops etx125

when using the tonites best, most times my etx 125 runs into the stops,a certain object could be a few degrees away to the right but instead autostar will choose to make a 360 all the way left to find the object and run into the stops.
is there something that can be done?,Can the stops be removed?
why doesnt the autostar know not to run into the stops.

Im positive im seting up correctly.
after the 10 minumte set up,and most times going thru the tour 4-5 times, hours into my adventure,boom......into the stops

meade etx 125 i think its an ec,standard mount that came with it

Hi, I just guessing here as it's been a while since I've used AutoStar and I'm a bit rusty. My version of AutoStar 497 can be used for several of Meade's telescopes (both DS and ETX series scopes). In either the setup or utility menu, there is a sub menu where you tell the controller exactly which telescope you have. You may want to check there to be sure that the hand controller has the proper telescope selected. Another thing you may want to try is to turn the cord wrap feature off. If you do, be careful.

Good suggestion above. Are you in the HOME position when you start the alignment? Turn the scope counter-clockwise to the hard stop. Control panel facing roughly west.

"NO cord wrap" makes the scope go back around so that cables will not become completely wrapped around the scope or the tripod.

Read about the HOME position in the manual.

i'll look at my menu options but I never seen a no cord wrap, plus all my cords are below the revolving part of the scope.....unless your talking about the wires inside the scope

your telling me to be careful when in "no cord wrap" mode but what do I have to watch for?

I been keeping my clutch kinda on the loose side so my gears wont get damaged when it does hit the stops.

The ETX power cord does not move-- however if you attach a laptop or a camera-- then the cords COULD wrap around the scope. That's why it moves 360 degrees back around it does not want to wrap cords.... this is GOOD.

It should NEVER hit the stops if it is set up correctly in the HOME position.
