Default Zhummell 8 Inch Dobsonian

Well i received my zhummell 8 in dob three days after christmas, well here in pa it has been either raining or cloudy ever since then, the scope came packaged extremely well(so you know the only scope i have to compare this to is my sons tasco refractor that i inherited 3 yrs ago when he got frustrated with it after a month of trying to see the moon(junk)) the scope was packaged extremely well every thing was boxed seperately and secure in the master carton, no chance of anything hitting the mirrors the bob base comes in a separate box was not that difficult to put together but if you are not mechanically inclined please note that the instructions are terrible but i figured them out.

The dob comes standard with a 9mm and 25mm eyepiece which are made by gso i am assuming and far superior to the tasco eyepieces.

It also comes standard with a 10x50 finder scope which mounts easily with the supplied o ring i mounted my telrad to the right side of this using the 2 side sticky adhesive tape now the focuser is really outstanding as it accepts 2in and 1.25in ep's and the focuser itself is silky smooth as it is a crayford focuser first night out was tonight i never in my 40yrs have seen the moon in such beauty and detail i waited all my life to see these views and stars don't ask which ones as i am just starting to learn the sky but i can say one was the middle one of the three of orion's belt the views were spectacular i would deffinetly recommend this scope to anyone beginner or seasoned veteran no shake while viewing like the old tasco for the price this scope is fantastic and the reps at telescopes.com were very good to work with forgot to mention this also comes with a laser colliminator hope this helps anyone looking;i think they are out of the 8's for 2 months though, i only know of telescopes.com handling the zhummell which is a gso with some nice added features happy star gazing

Looks like a nice buy.. You may want to think about either a barlow or perhaps shorter eyepiece for abit more mag, planets will take 200X or more easy when conditions permit with this size of scope.. If your into planetary observation, Jupiter comes up before dawn, brightest object approaching fairly low in the south.. Late in the evening perhaps after 10 PM midwest time can view Saturn, face south is very high in the sky slightly East, will see two stars rather bright nearly overhead (from my midwest location), Castor and Pollux (are to the right of Saturn), if your still not sure just look for a brighter star, will usually be yellow in the finder view.. Next time looking at Orions Belt, slightly below is the famed Orion Nebula, use low power, then medium or high...famed Trapezium 4 tight stars located in the center of the Orion Nebula..in a dark sky will see details..
