    Default Bruce sayer

Okay... So I was searching and I came across a Bruce Sayer 20" f4 truss dob for $500... Anyone know anything of these?? I settled on the ad12 nib but... This is half the price which makes me think it has to be horrible.

I know that he has assembled many scopes, some of them quite large, but I have not personally experienced any of them.

Hrmm if I had the extra 500 I'd get it for a stationary scope and review it

I believe he used a number of different mirrors from different manufacturers, so some research would likely be needed to know for sure where the mirrors came from.

But if I had the money and was relatively close to it, I would be highly tempted to take a look at it.

I would be wary of a cost of $500 for the 20" mirror alone. Sounds unrealistically cheap.

low profile design with Dob Driver II motors and balancing weights in Custom alt-azimuth mount. Sky Designs supplied the 20" x 1.5" Pyrex fine annealed glass blank and optical coatings. The optics were finished by Galaxy Optics for optical figure yielding 95% clear aperture and for RMS error equal to or better than 0.076. Included are: a precision JMI 2" focuser; an Orion finder-scope dove tail bracket; dew shroud and complete assembly manual. This unit is large and graceful; with exceptional rigidity, stability & good portability
Mirror specs. All Greek to me

That's what I'm thinking too. The focuser alone cost close to $500.
