    Hi charlesm,

Dont know what size dob your wanting to move? A couple of pics of the cart I made to move my 220lbs 25"f5.3 Dob. Its made from 3x cheap furniture trolleys, (cost NZD$22.95 each). A part of a sheet of 25" ply, and a $50 (out of an auction), trailer dolly wheel for steerage. Around NZD$150 total. Has 6x 10" pneumatic tyres. Currently building a 33"f4.1 Dob and intend to move this on similar cart.

With this cart its not a 'biggy' to steer/move this rig any reasonable distance over even slightly variable terrain, (concrete, grass, even loose single).

    Regards
    Stephen

I use a simple hand truck from Lowes or Home Depot for $25 and put a piece of plywood under the lip.Tilt back and roll. Very easy and it has not rolled off yet.The scope is a split-tube though. The LTA is pretty big and heavy. This little truck works in mud, grass and snow.

There are a lot of options, check out these links. I personally like option 2 (Moving Large Dobsonians), I've bought this cart already from Harbor Freight, it was ~$40 with 20% discount coupon. It has pneumatic wheels so rides pretty soft even through the bumps.

Guys and Gals, we're sticking this thread as it contains a wealth of good Dob transport alternatives. To keep it from getting ungainly with non-essential commentary we are also closing it. But, we are creating a discussion thread at: Discussion Thread for Dob Dolly Alternatives Sticky for commentary.

    Clear skies and Happy Dobbing!
