I had a 6" dob for 14 years-I finally succumbed to aperture fever and went with a 15". At the time the 6" was all I could afford andI regretted that I could not get the 8". Long term, the 6" had proven to be a great little scope that had given me nice views of many types of objects. If you want to get eyepieces and are strapped for cash, the 6" might be better in the short term. I still use my 6" and love it-though not as often. Chances for a better mirror are greater with the 6" if you are going Chinese-made. If you can afford it, go for the 8". You won't regret either choice. The 6" is a real winner from many angles-I would not go smaller though.

It's all cloudy today...I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow in order to take my scope out. I'm a bit anxious to be honest. Any suggestions for first time viewing?

A good choice. Affordability and ease of handling. You will not regret it. Enjoy! You might start with Saturn if the moon doesn't wash it out.

The sky cleared out after all. And I went for my first gazing...I'm haunted by the images....Overwhelmed...I still cannot believe what I just saw. Here's what I saw:

    The moon-beautiful, breathtaking
saturn and its moons!!!! can you believe that???I could clearly see Titan and I could just make out Rea, Tithis, Dione!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Venus! I could make out its orangish clouds and its crescent! Just like a miniature moon!

I'm shocked, amazed, and as I said before haunted! Seriously, how can someone sleep again after that? And lastly, where does it stop? I guess it doesn't......
