Default 10'' Skywatcher Dobsonian on EQ-6 mount

    Hi folks,

am highly satisfied with my 10'' Dob so far, enjoying all the way. However, i was thinking in future to do some amateur AP. I know dobsons dont do that on their default setup but what if i mount it on a EQ-6 (quite expensive mount)?

It is supposed to handle the 10'' weight plus camera, cables for AP, ect. I also understand that the results will not be that fascinating due to the nature of newtonian for AP, ie fast scope (f/5). But for an amateur that expectations are not magazine illustrated AP's is that a good solution?

I came across to Matt's website and got amazed with his results. He uses a 10'' Skywatcher Dob on EQ-6. Matt's Astronomy Site - Photo Gallery

    What do you think?

ps: In the meantime i will try to make an Equatorial Platform

That is an AWFUL big tube to swing around on an EQ type mount. You really do not need a big aperture to do really good astro-photography.
