    Default Tonights Observations (Aug. 29/30)

Took another look at M81/82. These two galaxies together are just amzing. The round and brighter M81 above and to the right of the elongated M82.

Tried to find the blinking nebula, but couldn't find it.

Found M2; a nice compact, but bright globular cluster. Then moved on to M72; a very faint globular.

Also showed my neighbor the double cluster and M13 (a couple of my favorites).

Once again tried in vain to find the Helix nebula. Any suggestions are welcome; I know I am in the right area, but cannot locate it.

Got a lot of practice star hopping tonight.

My observations on August 29? Lots of clouds, with intermittent flashes of clouds.

Had one of the best nights here in a long time. Clear, no wind, new moon. Tonight not so good. Clear, new moon, 30 mile an hour winds. Oh well, I'm still recovering from last night; got up friday morning at 3:30 to go to work, went to bed this morning at 3:00 after looking at the stars for 5 hours. Slept until 8. Still kind of tired.
