    If the top left corner is Mirach, then I am guessing the next star rightward is Mu Andromedae, and the next one in line is Nu Andromedae. That would put the galaxy just out of frame on the right. If I have my bearings right...

    M31 will appear, depending on your exposure length, as a round fuzzy patch. The longer your exposure, the more of it that will be revealed.

    I am an amateur astronomer that has been observing as a hobby for a little over 40 years. Most people that know me would likely say I was pretty "hardcore" concerning the lengths I will go to in order to observe or when they see my collection of astronomy gear.

    But I have to rely on my own experience and have no formal training or education dedicated to astronomy.
