    I have no idea what that ring of light is either. I do most of my observing from my driveway where there is a street light and headlights from cars that pass on the road.

    I took that pic afocally by mounting the camera over the eyepiece. The only guess I have for the ring of light is somehow light is getting between my camera lens and the eyepiece and that is what is causing that ring of light. It happens in alot of the pics I take, but not all of them. It could be something internal with my camera also because that reflection looks like the outline of then camera lense.

    I kind of wondered if it wasn't a reflection. Is there anyway you can process that out with software? You might ask someone over in the AP forum. Again, not being an AP'er I don't know myself.

    I'm going to start using a dslr to take photos with so light shouldn't be a problem anymore. I hope at least

    NGC 457 is one of my favorite objects. I see it as "ET" with his friendly little eyes staring back at me.
