I would like to see the Jewel Box Cluster, I think its a little too far south for me to see, but the pics I seen were grand
Thanks Alan

Those are some of my favorites. Oops! That's eleven actually. I particularly like M38 and the Double Cluster. This is just the beginning - I have only included two NGC objects in the form of the Double Cluster...many more to go.

Astronomers: We look into the past to see our future.
We should go to Chile.
Most of those clusters mentioned are far north and a few make an appearence down south too. The Jewel box is awesome(saw her tonight) and there are many others. The "southern Plaeides" etc. and many others that don't have a M designation down here. I love open clusters and often target them.
Wish we all could trade places(north/south) for just one week in a a lifetime, just to 'see' the other half!
Cheers
.
I would gladly trade with you Clinton, though not to Durban. You could observe in our state of Wyoming, and I would go to say Botswana. Then we could both have nice views of new objects! I can guarantee you would be lost in those skies for two reasons, some unfamiliar stars, and more importantly way, way more of them visible to the naked eye than you're used to. But that is a real fun way to get lost!

Hello KingClinton,
you have got quite a bunch of all kinds of DSOs in your southern hemisphere.
I envy you of the Pismis24, including the multiple Pismis24-1, Top 10 most interesting multiple star systems | Supernova Condensate It's quite challenging from the middle/south Europe.
Don't worry too much about the Messiers. You can run a marathon with the Abbe Lacailles,
Lacaille and his catalog of clusters and nebulae
