Default help! i'm going up north with my scope for the first time!

So on a website that was selling my telescope it advertised (below) that I can see details of galaxies and their spirals, nebulae, etc. Is this true? I thought my scope would only do that with a camera on a timed exposure? Can anyone verify this? I have a Celestron C-8 Advanced SGT.

On top of that the large aperture of the Celestron C-8 captures enough light so that you can see thousands of deep sky objects in detail - galaxies will reveal their spiral structure, planetaries and gas nebulae will show lots of detail and globulars are often dissolved into single stars.

hello, as long as you can get steady tracking with your scope you should be good to go for some decent photos. Do you have a good camera mount? Your SLR will help by taking multiple photos which you can then stack together using astronomy software.

Also try to get away from lights, get dark adapted and maybe you will see some details you never saw before

Let us know how it goes
Clear skies
