    Default Focuser, mirror tube grease

Hey guys....years ago I contacted Celestron about a corrector plate issue. Unable to pay the cost to have Celestron fix the problem, they sent me two bottles of grease free of charge. (Back when companies believed in good customer relations!) They were labeled focuser, and mirror. But, the labels fell off long ago. One is a dark brown, and the other is a dark grey. Probably enough grease to do a hundred SCTs!

I used the dark brown previously on this 8in SCT for the mirror tube. Recently noticing that the main tube is loose in the back ring I decided to just dismantle everything, tighten it up, clean and regrease. Ready to reassemble the scope, I got to wondering if I was using the right grease in the correct place! Does anyone happen to know which grease is supposed to go on the tube the mirror slides on, or if it even matters?

    Thanks.

    Hi Dean,

I think it's time for a quick call to Celestron and let them definitively answer that question.

    Cheers,

I never met a scope I didn't want to keep.

I will second JT. make sure you ask for an Old Fart that's been there for awhile! I called about my SP-C6 about six months ago and the kid said," Did we make that?" Lol! Bill
